Traditional Lunar New Year 2011 The year 2010 is coming to the end. Hoian Ancient Town is exciting to welcoming the New Year 2011 with a lot of significant activities. At Hoian Museum of History and Culture( 06 Tran Hung Dao- Hoian), from 21h December 31, 2010, the Youth Union of Hoian City will begin dancing to welcome new year and proclaim the Youth Year 2011. Especially, from 19h December 31, 2010 to 02h Jannuary 01, 2011, at Dong Hiep Freeland, Minh An( Nguyen Phuc Chu street- Hoian), Gala Dinner “ Rescounding of Hoai River” will be magnificently organized with the traditional arts performances of the meritorious artist Manh Hung and Rock Bands from Hochiminh City to welcome New Year Eve.

Vandering Souls Day The 15th day of the seventh lunar month is the Buddhist version of the Christian All Soul’s Day, when the souls of those condemned to suffer in hell for their sins are freed for a day.

Whale Worshiping Festival For centuries, the Whale Festival in Quang Nam Province has been considered the biggest water festival by the fisherman of the Quang Nam province. The fishermen celebrate it with the hope of good luck when going fishing, and with the belief that paying respect to the Whale God will ensure safety and prosperity for the entire village.
