Budget airline Jetstar Pacific is offering US$2 fares on direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Thailand’s Bangkok and Cambodia’s Siem Reap from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. today to mark its first market expansion.
The carrier said it will launch the daily HCMC – Bangkok route on October 31, 2008, and the daily HCMC – Siem Reap service on November 3, 2008.
The fares, with surcharges, fees and taxes not included, are available atwww.jetstar.com and Jetstar Pacific ticketing offices nationwide.
After the 11-hour promotion period today, Jetstar Pacific’s daily fares on the HCMC - Bangkok route will start from US$12 one way, and $40 one way on the HCMC - Siem Reap route, the airline said.
Luong Hoai Nam, CEO of Jetstar Pacific, said the carrier’s entry into regional markets of Bangkok and Siem Reap marked an “exciting” development, supporting further expansion of the Jetstar brand across Asia.
In related news, another budget carrier, Tiger Airways, will add one more flight to its Hanoi – Singapore route starting on October 25, Ta Viet Tien, the carrier’s Vietnam chief representative said.
He said the decision for the additional flight resulted from sound financial management and high seat occupancy rates
Meanwhile Thai’s Nok Air and the Philippines’ Cebu Pacific Air recently suspended services between Bangkok and Manila to Hanoi due to rising fuel costs.
